It was directed towards the OP and meant only as a friendly reminder.
If my wording led you to believe otherwise, I should have phrased
things differently.

I - admittedly - assumed you had intended to send your reply to the OP
in private instead of it being for public consumption.

Good point. The list is not configured to encourage mail clients to
send on-list replies. Whether it should be configured so is another
matter that usually causes more than enough debate. I reckon my e-mail
address clearly shows my authority in the matter ;)

It did not inconvenience me; I merely meant to point the OP to the
fact you sent your message off-list and I recommended he should
normally respond in kind.
