Hello all,
We recently tested Radiator against EMIC m/cluster, a MySQL clustering
solution from http://www.emicnetworks.com. M/cluster provides high
availability, scalability and manageability services for MySQL, using 2 or
more clustered MySQL server hosts.
It runs on a number of Linux platforms, including RedHat, SuSE and Debian (we
tested on FC4). It does not require much in the way of special hardware, just
a second Network Interface Card for each node in the cluster.
Installation and configuration was very easy. It took us about 1 hour to set
up a 2 node cluster after we hade FC4 installed and the network cards
configured.
We tested against Radiator 3.13 with a number of database and cluster failure
modes, and it recovered fine in every case.
m/cluster may be a more cost-effective way for Radiator users to build a
high-reliability MySQL database for Radiator than a single server with
specialised RAID hardware, multiple power supplies etc.
(BTW, we do not have any financial relationship with EMIC networks, we are
just reporting an intersting and potentially useful product for use with
Radiator)
Cheers.
