Is there a way to split out the users file into multiple files?

As an ISP, this would be really handy to aid in management.

With 5,000+ entries that file will become VERY unmanageable very quickly.

Has anybody successfully implemented the mysql method of authentication?

I kept running into database corruption that would entirely lock me out of
the mysql database, even as root (yes I know the password gets set to
rootpass).
