(RADIATOR) SMS gateway for use with Radiator

I would reccomend looking at the kannel sms/wap gateway. It has an SMS
gateway that lets you send an SMS message via calling a URL. This may be
able to integrate with AuthBy URL. If you don't feel like compiling open
source software you could also look at the NowSMS gateway that has a similar
feature and is very easy to set up and run. It onlys runs on Windows though
:(. There are a number of other SMS gateway software products on the market
that offer an HTTP interface for sending SMS messages.

All this assumes that you will able to establish a connection to the SMSC
from the gateway software. Another option is to use a phone to originate the
messages. Most gateway software has some support for this, may personal
favorite is using a GSM modem or Sierra Wirelss AireCard instead of
monkeying around with an actual phone and data cable, AirLink
(www.airlin.com) makes some nice GSM modems designed for standalone use.
Since many carriers let you send SMS messages to phone via email like
phonenumber at carrier.com you may be able to just shoot off an email without
bothering with a gateway.

Subject: (RADIATOR) SMS gateway for use with Radiator

Hello Everyone -

I am currently in discussion with a Radiator customer who wants to be
able to send SMS messages from Radiator.

Does anyone on the list have any suggestions with details of how to do
this?

I have suggested using an AuthBy EXTERNAL clause and/or an AuthBy
INTERNAL with a hook.

Any pointers to SMS gateways would be appreciated.

thanks and regards

Hugh
