thanks - for the information - very useful. however, what is the difference
between the above and not using the "-noacct" ... if i use -noacct then the
packet is sent but the proxying doesn't recognise it and fwd it. 

but if i remove the -noacct (and still keep the -code) the proxyign server
does recognise it and fwd it, and the packet sent does seem to be of the
right type (alive/status)
