Apart from a performance issue, OpenLDAP-2.0.7 (Debian "testing") works
just fine out-of-the-box with AuthBy LDAP2.

Remember that if you use LDAP's (encrypted) userPassword that you won't be
able to do CHAP.

Are the any specific problems you are having?
