Hello,
We are pleased to announce the release of Radiator SIM Pack version 2.10.
Radiator SIM Pack is a feature rich 3GPP AAA solution from Radiator
Software for Wi-Fi offloading, Wi-Fi Calling (VoWi-Fi) and other SIM based
authentication use cases.
The new release showcases the extensive development work supporting complex
real-life operator deployments, including scenarios where end users from
multiple MNOs each require a specific approach. We have also made the
operational side easier with improved Diameter peering and enhanced tracing
and debugging, all based on actual customer requirements and projects.
*Add support for Diameter S6a/S6d authentication and location update*
Operators that prefer using Diameter S6a/S6d interface for Wi-Fi offload
authentication with EAP-SIM, EAP-AKA or EAP-AKA’ can now configure Radiator
to act as a SGSN. With S6a/S6d configuration Radiator uses the S6d to fetch
authentication information and does location update with S6a.
Location update is needed to retrieve the end user’s IMSI and profile
information which allows authorisation based on, for example, APN
configuration. Radiator makes this information available for custom
authorisation.
*Enhance Diameter SWx for fetching profile information*
Similar to S6a/S6d authentication and location update, Diameter SWx can now
be used to do both authentication and location management. Location
management supports options for full IMSI registration or simpler profile
retrieval. Both S6a/S6d and SWx support similar authentication and
authorisation.
*Interoperability enhancements*
Deployments with different operators have resulted in a number of
enhancements to better interoperability with Diameter and SIGTRAN/GSM MAP
authentication services.
For example, when location information needs to be purged, the request is
now sent to the HLR or HSS that replied to the initial location update.
Even if this is not required, it reduces the work needed by the
authentication services and makes tracing and debugging easier on the
operator side.
With VoWiFi, the authentication and authorisation is also now done with the
same HSS for the IMSI in question. While not strictly required, it helps
with tracing and debugging.
*Easier high availability with Wi-Fi offloading*
Wi-Fi offloading EAP-SIM, EAP-AKA and EAP-AKA’ can now be directly
configured to use multiple Diameter peers. Multiple peerings can be used
with fail-over or load balancing algorithms.
*Dynamic configuration with Wi-Fi offload*
When Radiator is configured to authenticate EAP-SIM, EAP-AKA or EAP-AKA’
Wi-Fi users that have SIM cards from multiple operators, the operator
specific parameters, such as Diameter or SIGTRAN/GSM MAP authentication
servers can be dynamically set from a database. For example, IMSIs can be
mapped to Diameter Destination-Realm values, selection between GSM MAP and
Diameter can be done per-request basis and location update can be enabled
or disabled as required.
Other possibilities include choosing authentication parameters for a single
operator based on the IMSI ranges. In case the operator IMSIs are numbered
so that the parameters are different for each range, Radiator can adjust
the authentication and location update requests based on this information.
