You need to subscribe to the catool mailing list and send any questions there. 
I have CCd this to the mailing list, and I will answer this directly. But 
please send any further ciorrespondence or questions to the catool mailing 
list. I am not usually able to respond to catool questions directed to me 
personally.

It looks to me like the MySQL server has stopped/died/disconnected. Did you 
get any error messages in the mysql logs?
What versions of mysql and DBD:mysql are you using?
